Analysing the country’s water resources and their vulnerability to climate change

The overall objective of this project is to update current knowledge of the country’s groundwater and surface water resources. This includes:

  • Characterising current and potential groundwater and surface water vulnerability areas.
  • Assessing the effects of climate change, their impacts on water resource quality and quantity, and the different water resource uses, and identifying prevention measures.

Type of service provided :

  • Conducting a literature review and analysing hydrogeological, hydrological and meteorological data;
  • Conducting a GIS analysis (including remote sensing) to characterise vulnerability areas;
  • Reviewing hydrogeological (groundwater level measurement) and hydrological (river flows and water quality) monitoring systems;
  • Assessing current and future climate risks on available groundwater and surface water resources (quality and quantity);
  • Developing a strategy to the develop and enhance future monitoring systems;
  • Producing a programme proposal to address the impacts of climate change.
