Final evaluation of the "Support to the promotion of best practices for the management of water, hygiene and sanitation in rural areas in the Maritime region of Togo" project funded by the European Union.
The project "Support to the promotion of best practices for the management of water, hygiene and sanitation in rural areas" is implemented by both the German and the Togolese Red Cross and funded by the EDF (European Development Fund). This project is implemented in 60 villages of the Avé and Zio prefectures (in the Maritime area of Togo). It aims at improving the health of the population targeted through the promotion of good behaviors in terms of hygiene, sanitation and drinking water. Overall, the project aims at contributing to the MDGs on water and sanitation related MDGs (MDG 7) and health (4, 5 and 6).
Project activities include the implementation of outreach activities, the supply of drinking water to 22,500 people through the construction and rehabilitation of boreholes and construction of family and school latrines.
Hydroconseil will perform the final evaluation of the project with regards to the 5 OECD evaluation criteria (relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact and sustainability) and make recommendations to strengthen the future collaboration between the German Red Cross, the Cross -Red Togo and the European Union on similar projects in the area of intervention.
