Strengthening the sustainability and resilience of water services in rural communities
The Global Centre for Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have launched the African Adaptation Acceleration Programme (AAAP). One of the pillars of this programme is the African Infrastructure Resilience Accelerator (AIRA), which aims to integrate climate resilience into more than US$7 billion worth of investments by 2025. As part of the AIRA, the Drinking Water Infrastructure Construction, Rehabilitation and Extension project being implemented in 7 provinces of Burundi (CREI) conducted a study to assess rural water supply services’ vulnerability to climate change and propose a range of adaptation options.

- Training local institutions on climate change, hydrology and adaptation measures;
- Developing a catalogue of solutions with grey/green infrastructure and nature-based solutions;
