Analysis of the generation, monitoring, integration and articulation of information and data in relation to MDG 6

Within Latin America, there is a multitude of gaps in the generation, monitoring, integration and presentation of information and data on access to drinking water and sanitation services, as well as in integrated water resources management. Through this project, the Consultant will carry out an exhaustive technical and institutional assessment of information management in the sector in four countries (Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama) in order to produce recommendations based on the indicators used in the OLAS (Latin American and Caribbean Observatory for Water and Sanitation) platform to monitor achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Type of service provided :

  • Revising the methodology and finalizing the data collection form;
  • Developing a guide for future assessments in the region;
  • Carrying out an institutional and sector data management assessment (from generation to analysis): holding meetings with the parties involved in the 4 countries, mapping the actors and their responsibilities, assessing inter-agency coordination mechanisms and identifying information management challenges;
  • Developing a roadmap to improve sector information management for each country, including a proposal for the required technical assistance and budget;
  • Organizing workshops with the different stakeholders to present the findings of the assessment and validate the roadmap.
